ANNE SCOTT

 

Anne Scott was appointed as the president of the Tax Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland in 2017; and the Social Security Chamber in 2018.

A graduate of the University of Aberdeen, she was based in the city until 2011 when she was a partner in Brander & Cruickshank WS; a tax partner in Arthur Young and Ernst & Young; a board member at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary; a member of the Aberdeen Harbour Board; a governor of the Robert Gordon University; and a non-executive director of other companies.

She has been a judge in the UK First-tier Tribunal Tax Chamber since its inception; a judge in the Social Entitlement Chamber for more than 20 years; a legal member of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland, and a legal member of the Council Tax Reduction Review Panel.

She is a member of the Board of the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service; sits on the Advisory Council of the Judicial Institute; and chairs the Judicial Education for Tribunals Working Group.
