The Hon Lord Summers (Alan Summers)

Lord Summers was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Courts in March 2017.

A graduate of the universities of Dundee, Oxford and Edinburgh, he became an advocate in 1994 and acquired a mixed civil practice.

He was appointed a Standing Junior to the Scottish Government in 2000, and became Special Counsel to the UK Government in 2007. In 2008 he was appointed as a Queen's Counsel, and specialised in insolvency, property and commercial law.

Between 2008 and 2012, he was chairman of the Faculty Services Ltd, and in 2012, he was elected Faculty of Advocates Treasurer.
